Emotional Needs

Man has a soul. The soul of a child is as complete as that of an adult. Emotional needs are not peculiar to adults alone, children have them also. They have a need to beloved and to express love. When you notice a child with inferiority complex, that’s prove positive that that child was raised or is being raised in an emotionally ‘cold’ homes,  homes where their fathers

are dictators and their mothers are disciplinarians. As parents we need to study our children; to know their temperaments and moods, their likes and dislikes. One child may be reserved given to reading and thinking while another is boisterous and playful.

Physical Needs

1 Timothy 5:8 says ‘But if any provide not for his own and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.

As parents God expects us to meet the physical needs of our children. And there several ways we can go about that. Physiological needs include food, shelter and clothing. To some extent toys, games etc. there are toys like ride on cars/truck, LEGO, Disney set etc that make kids more responsible and active. These sets of toys could also impact their mental prowess.

When thinking about laying up an inheritance for children, most people concentrate on laying up houses, money, clothes, cars and other possession. But the best inheritance you can give your child is a good Christian upbringing.

No matter how magnificent a building or an edifice is, if it has no good foundation, it will sure crumble away. Children are like plasticine – soft, pliable and mouldable.  As a wise parent, you must be available to skillfully and tenderly mould them to become who God has destined them to be.

God’s purpose for giving you children is not only for replenishing and filling up the earth, but because He is seeking a godly seed. And the adequate environment to raise a godly seed unto the Lord is the home. As a Christian parent, you should pay as much attention to your children as you would in walking in divine health, prosperity and success. You should not be nonchalant about raising your children in the fear of the Lord.

So many parent shift the responsibilities of child training and development to baby sitters, schools, churches or relatives. No matter how good the school is or how glorious the church is, there is no better person to train your children like you.

When it comes to parenting and parental guidance, there are certain needs that must be met or catered for. As parents, God mandates us to provide for our children’s spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Man is a Spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Once we learn to order our priorities aright, we will find that the time invested in meeting these needs is not in vain.
